In addition to the support of the Friends of the Alabama Archives, the  Alabama Department of Archives & History (ADAH) also benefits from the support of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Alabama Archives & History Foundation.

Established in 2002, the Foundation supports major capital projects, collections conservation, and other permanent, sustainable improvements that supplement state resources appropriated by the Legislature for general operations.

In 2022, the Foundation began a new campaign to enhance and update the permanent exhibits in the Museum of Alabama. In addition to providing updates to Alabama Voices, the campaign will fund renovations to the Hands-On Gallery, the Alabama Treasures gallery, and the First Alabamians exhibit.
